Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold winds. Dwarf Rhododendrons can handle a sunnier position provided the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are more alkaline it is best grown in a pot using a mix of ericaceous compost and soil-based compost to provide good drainage'
