Pittosporum tenuifolium Silver Ball
Lovely compact, rounded evergreen shrub bearing glossy oval silver-grey, green leaves edged with white on black stems. Small fragrant purple flowers in spring followed by dark brown berries.
A great choice for a contemporary look in city or courtyard gardens providing year-round interest and useful for sheltered dry and coastal gardens. Plant as a specimen or in a mixed shrub border. Ideal for growing in containers on the patio, terrace or in a conservatory. Suitable for topiary and low hedging.
Grow in in full sun to light shade in moist well-drained soil. Dig in a healthy amount of soil improver and slow-release fertiliser prior to planting and water regularly until established. Low maintenance but can be lightly clipped into shape if required. May require winter protection from severe cold.
