A profusion of unusual crimson, lantern-like flowers on long red stalks appear from Spring to early Summer. Stiffly branched, upright shoots bear narrow, dark evergreen leaves.

Low maintenance and providing year-round interest this shrub is a great choice to grow against a shady wall or border. Grow in fertile, moist, but well drained acidic soil. Shelter from cold, drying winds. The removal of misplaced or crossing shoots after flowering will help maintain a healthy and neat framework.
