A clump forming, rhizomatous perennial with glossy, bright green leaves and stunning, architectural white flowers. they flower in succession from late spring to mid-summer. In milder areas the leaves remain evergreen.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in a moist, humus-rich, fertile soil. It can be grown as a marginal aquatic with the recommendation that it is planted in a growing basket. Keep only just moist during the dormant winter months. Protect from heavy frosts with a deep winter mulch and divide clumps in the spring.
